|T2 – Melbourne Breakfast 100g – $13.50|
Anyone who has met me knows I love a hot drink, give me a cuppa or a coffee and I’m happy as Larry (can anyone explain to me who Larry is?). I have a little obsession with tea. If you ever happened to come around to Jamie and I’s shared flat in Brighton and saw our collection, you will know I am lying about the little part. On arriving in Perth I knew that T2 were going to be getting a lot of my cash and being fairly short of it lately I’m impressed it has taken me this long to purchase anything. Unfortunately, being early for an interview gave me just enough time to wander in. I have a little obsession with vanilla (it being a key feature in two posts today) and love vanilla teas, which seem to be lacking in Perth. This is their more subtle vanilla tea and is described on their website as “A warm and sweet brew with depth of character. Full, orthodox keemun leaves with a scattering of golden yunnan and assam tips produce a rich infusion with delicious vanilla and honey notes. Full-bodied and smooth, a hint of briskness cleans up a sweet vanilla finish. Versatile, refreshing and appealing, this is a morning staple that keeps telling a different story on each new day.”
I use a teaspoon per cup, I take pretty large mugs of tea so I would recommend a little less (a half to two thirds of a teaspoon) for a normal sized mug or cup. It’s fairly strong and I wouldn’t say it’s a light tea. It’s delicious and perfect for breakfast but would go amazingly well with something sweet, such as a pastry or dessert. I don’t take sugar or honey in any hot drinks but do appreciate a little sweetness. If you’re trying to cut out sugar in tea, I suggest trying a vanilla tea without adding anything as it has a natural sweetness to it that might help you adjust to life without. This particular one isn’t hugely sweet, but I know they have one called Madagascan Vanilla which smells a lot sweeter.
|“A deep and warming tea with a hint of sweetness, reminiscent of Melbourne.
Full bodied with a touch of vanilla. An essential tea.”
Melbourne Breakfast has become a new favourite and this might just become my default tea. This morning I enjoyed it with a big bowl of Cocoa Bombs and a little first season Project Runway. This tea is definitely ‘in’. It is a little on the pricey side at $13.50 per 100g, but they do huge packets of this that works out cheaper per gram too. I’d definitely buy again and it can be bought online here for those without access to any stores or stockists. I do recommend a trip into a store one day if you can as it is just gorgeous and they have amazing teapots as well!
