I bet at this point you’re thinking “How long did you go on holiday for? This is ridiculous!” But actually we’re not even half way through. So get ready for a lot more posts like this. Today’s post is clearly about my birthday and our stay in Faliraki. Faliraki is a town on the island of Rhodes and is kind of known as a British party destination. We stayed in a pretty nice resort called Sentido Apollo Blue Resort and it was lovely! There’s great facilities like an amazing pool, beauty spa, restaurants and so on.
The pool was gorgeous and we loved chilling out next to it. That’s pretty much all we did for the three days we were there, eat and swim. We did however, meet up with the same couple that me met in Athens and spent the day wondering around, having espresso freddos and just hanging out. It was loads of fun and we really liked the new part of Rhodes. As we had already been there on this trip we weren’t too bothered about the old town, which we did explore again a little. I actually really enjoyed being in the new town though and thought it had a really nice atmosphere.
The next day was my actual birthday, so we kicked off the day with the buffet breakfast and a glass of champagne, and then we made it to the pool to just relax. I really like to read by the pool so I was doing a lot of reading at this time. It was lovely. Around lunch time we had a roast veggie sandwich and a bottle of champagne. Why not? Jamie also surprised me with a massage at the spa which was incredible!
After spending the most of the lying down we decided to lay down some more and have a nap before we got ready for the night out. I had told the hotel that it was my birthday when we were there and they offered us a complimentary dinner, which was incredibly nice. So we went to the bar for a drink whilst we waited for our table, and I had an awesome Margherita and Jamie had a Martini. To be honest, my expectations for the meal weren’t too high as it was a hotel restaurant, and there was slim chance they’d have vegan options on their menu. Jamie picked our food and tried to pick as vegan as possible, but we all know that it can be hard sometimes so it was the next best option and we went for seafood.
I obviously didn’t eat the cheese off the greek salad but the rest of the food was amazing, so so delicious. The rest of the meal was too hard to photograph as it got really dark, but trust me, amazing. It was funny though because at this point we were quite drunk. I’ll recap, we had a glass of champagne at breakfast, a bottle of champagne at lunch, a very strong cocktail and a bottle of wine with dinner. So we we’re well and truly on our way, when the waiters came over with a cake (that said Happy Anniversary!) and another bottle of champagne! So we had a little bit of the cake to be polite and polished off the rest of the champagne before heading out to the town centre. Unfortunately we didn’t even make it to the main part of town as we had two drinks at one bar and then a lot of drinks at this Flinstones themed bar. We bumped into this english couple that we became friends with and the guy requested the bar tender to make him the most incredible looking drink and I had to have one. I think this may have been my tipping point and I really had to go home.
The next morning I woke up still completely dressed from the night before so that was hilarious. We pretty much spent the next day very hungover. We did do a lot of exploring and tried to make the most of our last day in the resort. We had such a good time here and would recommend the resort to anyone going to Faliraki.
