Marie Claire and Glamour.
So instead of saving for trip, I’ve bought two magazines for their freebies. Hey, it’s really just a super cheap product with a free magazine though right? I’m not usually so tempted with freebies but there was just two this month that I couldn’t pass up.
Model Co Shine Ultra Lipgloss in Striptease
The first was at a petrol station on the way to Colchester to visit the Boyf’s Aunt, Uncle and Nan. I saw sitting there, this mag with this colour lipgloss. I think there is about 5 different products they are doing, two lipglosses, an eyeliner and a mascara (I think, probably wrong). The magazine retails at £2 so for a mag and a gloss I thought it was a bargain! I picked this lipgloss over the pinker version as I thought this was a nice subtle peach. I’ve been using this for about a week now and I like it but the colour pigmentation isn’t very strong. It might be the colour of my lips but I find this looks almost clear on me and gives me no colour pay off at all.

Ciate Mini Caviar Duo
The next one I picked up as I have always wanted to try a Cavier nails but didn’t want to pay full price in case I didn’t like it! But as Marie Claire retails at £3.80, I thought it was a bargain price for this set and a magazine. The colours are Cookies and Cream and Caviar Pearls – Shooting Star. Which funnily enough were labeled wrong! Their full size Caviar kits retail for £18 on the website here. They don’t have this colour range, so I’m not sure if it was a special edition. Cookies and Cream retails individually for £9.00 and I couldn’t find Shooting Star on the website. I had to get off pretty quickly, I was starting to add everything to my WantWorthy list. I want all the products and colours!!
You had one job!!
Never mind that though. I thought that Cookies and Cream wouldn’t be a colour I really liked but on my nails I thought it actually was a flattering colour and a nice basic. The polish isn’t very opaque though and it did take me three coats to build up a suitable colour. Shooting Star is a colour I instantly liked as it’s glittery and gold. Amazing! I like the feature nail look with caviar nails as I’m not a huge fan of OTT nail art. However I think for a really glitzy evening Shooting Star would look amazing over a metallic gold polish.
Haven’t mastered it yet but I like it!
Overall, I was pretty pleased with this mini set and I’m tempted to buy a full size of Cookies and Cream, however I’m not sure if I’d buy a Ciate caviar pot as I think you can get pots of micro beads at most craft stores for a fraction of the price.
I think I made some pretty good decisions with these “freebie” purchases but I do need to stop making all kinds of purchases and work on my savings. If you know me you’ll know exactly what I’m like. Damn that sale on ASOS for American Apparel disco pants.. (link here).
