I’ve been on a skin kick lately and I’ve always loved face masks, so I bought three! This might seem a little excessive but I don’t really care. The Lush one has a life span of 2-3 weeks but the rest I can use for up to a year I believe (please tell me if I’m wrong!). So I will definitely get the full use out of these!
This is such a lovely mask to use and I’m not even kidding when I say it is probably to the most luxurious mask I’ve used. I know to some this wouldn’t be, but I’ve never really spent a lot of money on skincare before. I just really love Aesop as a brand (especially being completely vegan!) and their philosophy is just really lovely. Anyway, the mask feels lovely to apply and tries fairly crispy. I really like that you don’t have to apply a lot of product either. When I first bought it, I really didn’t think it would last very long because the pot is kind of small and at $45 as well, I was a bit skeptical. But I wanted to treat myself, and at least try to get rid of all these spots, so bought it anyway. I feel like it does really help the texture of my skin, and it does seem to help get rid of spots faster too. Surprisingly, it’s quite calming and refreshing. The sales assistant also said that it can be used as an overnight spot treatment as well, however, I haven’t actually tried it as that yet.
This mask smells divine! I absolutely love rose scents and this one is particularly good. I also really like that it’s quite gritty. I find that this mask is exfoliating and leaves the skin feeling really cleansed. This mask is definitely less soothing than the Aesop one I just spoke about but I don’t find it too rough either. My skin feels deeply cleansed but still nice and fresh which is lovely. I really like Origins as a company as well and although sold in China and are owned by Estee Lauder they themselves are almost completely vegan and it’s just a brand I’m finding hard to part with. I’ve just been really enjoying using this mask lately and I like it for when my skin feels really, really yucky.
Obviously, I love Lush. If you know me personally or have followed me for even a little while, then you will know just how much I love them. However, I started to find that they weren’t really doing the things to my face that I wanted. I can’t seem to put it into the right kind of words but they just weren’t right, and I have tried almost all their various facial skincare items over a good 4 years and I just can’t seem to get the results I wanted. I do have hormonal acne so skincare will not help me to completely eradicate it but I like having the help to reduce it and to clear it faster. Anyway, tangent over. As a result of my massive amount of Lush purchases, I have loads and loads of empty pots. Lush encourage recycling so if you bring back 5 pots you get a free fresh face mask. I really like the Cupcake mask but to be honest it’s not really what I needed. Jamie just loves the smell of this and wanted to do a face mask with me. It’s designed for oily skin and helps to deeply cleanse (yes, just like the other two!) but it is quite rough and exfoliating. It is nice and I do like it but I really didn’t need it at this point in time.
I really love doing face masks and I used to only see them as a ‘treat’, something that I did only occasionally. That has really changed with the purchase of these products. I’m easily doing a mask a week and I think my skin is fairly happy with that. As I’m doing a deep cleansing mask I don’t want to do them too often. I feel like the texture of my skin is better, despite the awful hormonal acne around my jawline. I definitely know that the acne I am getting is going away faster as well but I also do think that this and a combo of some other new skincare items have reduced the appearance of old marks and spots as well.
All in all, happy with these masks at the moment but please share any other masks you love or think would be beneficial. I would also love to try some really soothing masks, so please recommend any of those you know are good too!
