One of the funniest things to happen was Jamie buying a whole mushroom of soap from Lush because it was 50% off! We are still using it! For Jamie’s birthday we got away to Margaret River to visit all the beautiful wineries and just enjoy some time off. I surprised Jamie with tickets to the caves. They’re so beautiful to see and really was an awesome experience. Just being able to spend some quality time together was my favourite part of this weekend however.
When we got back from this trip I changed jobs and started working for a fitness fashion company. I felt really inspired to start exercising more and I really did have a change of attitude in regards to my health. With the (much) healthier diet and the motivation to exercise more I did notice some weight loss, but the best result was the change in my energy levels and my moods. I started to become much happier! This year, I’ve really been into my gardening and growing my own herbs. I also started to splurge more on my makeup. One new rule I gave myself this year is quality over quantity. Buying things I love, even if it’s much pricier, is much better than owning loads of things I like.
We also finally used our wedding presents of a helicopter ride over Fremantle and a wine tasting river cruise up the Swan River. We thoroughly enjoyed both gifts as they were both such amazing experiences!
Jamie and I adopted Tessa just before we got married when she was 2 years old, so at this point in 2015 we had her for about 6-7 months and she had really started to become more comfortable with us. It’s been so lovely to see her grow more confident in herself and really come out of her shell. She was found as a stray but with a collar, and quite fearful of people. We think that she could even have been somewhat abused, and were worried she wouldn’t open up to us.
One of my favourite food discoveries from the year was this recipe for fructose-free and dairy free chocolate! It is amazing! Jamie and I also had the pleasure to see my cousin get married to her long term partner. It was a beautiful wedding and I was so happy to have my dad and step mum come over for it too. It had been almost a year since I had seen them when they came for my own wedding!
Around this time I started my degree in Internet Communications and got a promotion with work. Things started to get pretty busy!
I’ve spoken about it already but in 2015 I really changed my attitude towards my health. I now put it first and the most noticeable difference that it has made is the gradual weight loss. I refuse to weigh myself as I can get obsessive about my weight but I have dropped about two dress sizes. I was creeping back up to a size 14 at the start of the year and at the end of the year I was buying some of my clothes in a size 10! I have also seen a massive shift in my confidence. I’ve been more experimental with my fashion and make up which I’ve enjoyed immensely.
Not long after the wedding I changed jobs again, which I really didn’t want to do. Unfortunately with uni and being an assistant manager running a store without a manager, I was really struggling. I had over an hour commute to work each day and I was trying so hard to keep up with this blog as well. I was really stressed and I had to make a change. I was very tempted to stay within the company, however there was a few factors that caused me to look about. I ended up taking a casual job with an international fashion brand that I’ve always loved. It was hard adjusting to the lower income but the reduced stress was just what I needed.
Jamie and I went to Stereosonic this year and, as we always do, had an absolute blast!! We had so much fun and I wish we could go to festivals more often. The last major event of this year was our friends wedding in December. Unfortunately the ceremony was rushed through because of rain, but it was so beautiful and it was amazing to see how happy they were all day.
As one of my goals for 2016 is to be more organised I’m writing this early so there’s no photos just yet, but I have my mum coming as well which I’m so excited for! It will be amazing to see her.
In terms of lowlights of the year, I definitely had issues around spring with my job and uni. I was way overstressed and needed the change in lifestyle. I also had my sister move interstate in October which made me really sad! I miss her! Otherwise this year has been really good. It’s been nice getting back into study and just getting my health to a really good place.
The 10 specific resolutions I have made for myself are as follows:
